The Aptera is a high-efficiency vehicle presently in development
by Aptera Motors, Inc, at one time Accelerated Composites, now
accepting pre-orders from California residents.The claimed
fuel efficiency of 300 mpg at 55 mph (0.8 L/100 km at 90 km/h)
would make it among the most fuel-efficient automobiles on the
earth.
According to the pre-order webpage, Aptera
Motors has set the cost at US $26 900 for the
all-electric Typ-1e, and US $29 900 for the plug-in hybrid
Typ-1h.
The vehicle will be capable of charging up from any stand 110-volt
outlet, according to company specifications.
The Typ-1 will deliver a range of one hundred twenty miles on
electrical energy alone, with a 600 mile range for the hybrid
version when fully fueled. The vehicle seating is two in the front,
with one seat in the back with sufficient egough space to
accommodate an infant car seat, according to company
specifications. Remove the backseat and the cargo area, it can
accommodate up to fifteen bags of groceries or 2 full-size golf
club bags.
The car is street legal, according to Aptera. Like many of the

is registered with the Department of Transportation as a
motorcycle.
Rather than typical side mirrors, the car has displays relayed by
